Hemlocks Yacht Club
Established July 2, Y2K
History
During the summer of 2000, a group of friends got together for their annual margarita & salsa tasting party in The Hemlocks on Long Pond in Lakeville, Massachusetts.
To celebrate the new millennium, they added a Regatta. It was a remote control boat regatta, but a regatta none the less. Since it was a regatta, there had to be a trophy. The trophy was engraved "Hemlocks Yacht Club Regatta". During the barbeque, the discussion circled back to why not start our own yacht club.

Over the next few years, the annual party location was referred to as at the "Hemlocks Yacht Club." After a little research, paperwork, articles of incorporation and a check to the Secretary of State's office, The Hemlocks Yacht Club became an official entity in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 2004.

In 2016, the club members got together for their first fundraiser. They hosted a Kentucky Derby Party with the proceeds benefitting the Taunton Area Community Table (TACT).

During 2017, the Hemlocks Yacht Club increased their boat ownership from a pontoon boat and Flying Scot Sailboat (FS1365). Over the year, the club purchased two more Flying Scots (FS3928 & FS1038). Both boats needed updating, but two were ready for the Long Pond Flying Scot regatta on Labor Day.

Plans are being made for a Thursday night Flying Scot regatta during the summer of 2018.
